Member Responsibilities· Each member must commit to donating at each meeting. Only members may "champion a cause". Guests may attend but are not allowed to speak on behalf of a cause being submitted or to vote. · If you are unable to attend - give your check to a member to deliver on your behalf or watch for the meeting update email that is sent the evening of the meeting. This tells what charity was chosen at the meeting. Members then send checks made out to that charity (not to Show Me Women Who Care) to our PO Box address. Show Me Women Who Care PO Box 8965 St. Joseph, MO 64508-8965 -We are here to support non-profit organizations in the Andrew and Buchanan Counties that help people in need. · Only three non-profits will be presented at each meeting and chosen via drawing. · Each member who nominates a non-profit that is under consideration will be given 5 minutes to make a presentation at the meeting. · By ballot, the group will vote, the non-profit getting the most votes out of the three presented gets the funding. Even if you don’t care for the choice, you still must donate. · National charities will be considered only if the money is used specifically for use in our counties. The purpose is for the contribution to stay 100% in the area. · If your name is drawn and your non-profit is not chosen, you will still be eligible to put your name in the drawing at the next meeting. If your non-profit is selected to receive funding, you continue to contribute but refrain from presenting another cause for one year. Charities/non-profits selected for funding will be ineligible for further donations for one year. · The non-profit shall agree NOT to use the names of members they currently do not have on their contact lists for future solicitations or give the information out to the public. If the charity does not adhere to this condition it will be removed from any future consideration. - The more members we have the more money we can give to an area charity each quarter. Feel free to invite your friends, family, coworkers, church members to check us out and join. |
Frequently Asked Questions:Is my donation tax deductible? This will depend on the IRS status for each charity. We do expect that, in most cases, your donation will be tax deductible. What if I move out of the area? If you move from the Andrew and Buchanan Counties area, we would not expect you to continue to participate. What if I can’t make a meeting? If you are not able to attend a meeting, you are asked to give your check to another member to bring to the meeting. You also may mail your check to: Show Me Women Who Care P.O. Box 8965, St. Joseph, MO 64508-8965 Is this a legally binding contract? No. We only hope that all will fulfill their agreements. How long is the commitment? We ask that you commit to one year of participation. It is understood that you are continuing your commitment until you communicate that you no longer wish to participate as a member. What if I have a financial crisis? Understandably, unforeseen circumstances may occur. Please contact the coordinator at [email protected] to let that person know if this situation exists. What if my friend wants to participate at the next meeting? You are encouraged to invite others to participate and you may bring them to our next meeting. At that time, they may wish to vote and begin participation. May I send a substitute to vote in my place? No. This is not acceptable. How can I fully participate if I am not comfortable speaking in front of a group? If you are uncomfortable with public speaking you may designate another member to speak on your behalf should your name be selected as one of the three to promote your cause. You must be in attendance to submit your name into the selection process. Write her name in parenthesis behind your name on the form submitted. What is the financial commitment? The minimum commitment is $25.00 per quarter equaling $100.00 per year. If 100 women pledge $100.00 per quarter, we can give $40,000 per year to area projects making a difference in the lives of many people in our community. Consider how much you spend on bottled water, pop, cappuccino, or chocolate in a given month. Multiply that times three. Can you make a contribution equal to that amount? |
